Measurement & Condition Guides

All measurements of vintage and non vintage clothing are taken with the garment laid flat. All measurements are as exact as possible. Sometimes we may put in sleeve and or neck measurements as these can be very small on vintage garments. Please ensure that you check all dimensions carefully with your own body measurements before placing your order. To do this you could compare the measurements against something of your own that fits well or measure yourself (see guide below).

Bust Measurement: Around chest area.

Waist Measurements: Around the waist.

Hip Measurements: Around the hips.

Over All Length Measurement: taken from the shoulder to hem.

Length Measurement: Taken from top of the collar

Shoulder Measurement: Taken from seam to seam

Arm Measurement: Taken on the outside of the sleeve from the shoulder seam to cuff

Bust/chest Measurement: Taken from armpit to armpit

Know Your Size

Knowing your own size is very handy when buying vintage – here’s how to take your own measurements’……

Step 1. Get a measuring tape, a pencil and paper, and remove clothes or put on lightweight clothing.

Step 2. Draw the tape around the fullest part of your bust. Make sure the tape is taut but not tight, and it is flat, not twisted. Write down the measurement where the tape meets itself.

Step 3. Repeat for the smallest part of the waist, and the hip (about 7" below the waist). That's all!

Condition of Items

Vintage: As with most vintage goods it is expected that there will be some signs of wear. We will always point out any flaws and/or very obvious signs of wear. Part of the charm of vintage is that it has history and is unique. Items are therefore sold on a ‘sold as seen’ basis. If you would like to know more about the condition of an item before you make a purchase then please email us and we will be happy to discuss it with you and send further information and images. With our non vintage items, these are often hand made / artisan and as such may have imperfections or slight differences in sizes (the baskets for example). Please do ask if you have any questions.

Condition Guide:

Excellent: Worn either once or twice only or extremely well cared for and therefore has little or no signs of wear.

Very Good: Worn with minimal notable flaws.

Good: Possibly numerous noted flaws, needs repair.

Poor: Not fit for wear, design, display or study piece.
